The 11 Topics That Make Up Noorani Qaida
These are the same core topics taught in Noorani Qaida books around the world, but taught one to one instead of from a page alone. Your teacher goes in order and spends as long on each topic as you need.
The Arabic alphabet
Every letter in its separate and joined shapes.
Makharij
The exact place each sound is made.
Harakat
The short vowel marks: fatha, kasra, and damma.
Madd letters
Where a vowel sound is stretched instead of kept short.
Tanween
The double vowel marks that add an "n" sound at the end of a word.
Leen letters
Soft, gliding sounds that need a gentler pronunciation.
Sukoon and Shaddah
Reading a letter with no vowel, and doubling a letter's sound.
Noon Sakinah and Tanween rules
What happens when these meet certain letters.
Rules of Raa and Laam
When these two letters are read heavy or light.
Joining letters into words
Where single sounds turn into fluent reading.
Waqf
Where and how to pause when reciting.
Most students recognize the letter shapes within the first couple of weeks and work through all 11 topics in about three to six months, depending on age and how much they practice between lessons.
Who This Course Is For
Complete beginners of any age: a four year old on their first lesson, a teenager who never learned, or an adult who always meant to. We assume no reading ability at all.
How It Is Taught
Live, one to one video lessons on Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet. Never a group, never a recording. Your teacher watches and corrects you as you read.
Who Teaches It
A background-checked teacher with real experience teaching beginners to read, chosen for patience as much as qualification. You can choose a male or female teacher.

How long does the Noorani Qaida course take?
Most students recognize the letters within a couple of weeks and read with confidence in two to four months. The pace depends on age and how much you practice between lessons.
Do I need to know any Arabic to start?
No. The course assumes you have never seen Arabic script. It works for a young child and for an adult starting from zero.
Is Noorani Qaida different from reading the Quran directly?
Yes. Noorani Qaida is the foundation that lets you read the Quran correctly. It covers pronunciation and letter rules that the Quran itself does not stop to teach.
Can adults take this course, or is it only for kids?
Adults make up a large share of our Noorani Qaida students. It is never too late to learn the alphabet properly, and lessons are paced the same way at any age.
Can my child fit lessons around school and activities?
Yes. Lessons are short and flexible, so you can book after school, in the evening, or on weekends in your own time zone. If a practice or exam gets in the way, you can reschedule.
What comes after Noorani Qaida?
Most students move to our Tajweed course next. After that they choose memorization, translation, or Tafseer, depending on their goals.
