Learn moreHow These Courses Actually Fit Together
Almost every student starts in the same place, then branches off based on what they want next.
Step one, always: Noorani Qaida
The Arabic alphabet and correct pronunciation. Most other courses on this page assume you can already read, so this is where anyone with no reading ability begins.
Step two, for almost everyone: Tajweed
Once you can read, Tajweed makes that reading accurate. Qira'at, Hifz, and Ijazah all expect solid Tajweed to be in place already.
If your goal is reciting beautifully or memorizing
Move into Qira'at to refine tone and style, or Hifz to begin memorizing, with Ijazah as the certified goal for either path.
If your goal is understanding what you read
Move into Translation first, then Tafseer for depth, or Quranic Arabic if you would rather read the meaning yourself than depend on a translation.
Standing apart, useful at any stage: Salah and Islamic Studies
Both the Salah course and the Islamic Studies course do not require any of the courses above first. Many students, new Muslims especially, start with one of these two before they touch Arabic at all.
Not Sure Which Course to Start With?
Three quick questions usually settle it.
Can you read Arabic script confidently yet?
If not, Noorani Qaida is where to start, regardless of age.
Is your recitation itself accurate?
If you are not sure, Tajweed is worth confirming before you move to anything more advanced.
Still unsure, even after that?
