Three Types of Ijazah, One Careful Process
Which certification fits depends on what you have already studied.
Ijazah in Hafs 'an 'Asim
The most common path, certifying the riwayah recited most widely around the world.
Ijazah in Other Qira'at
For students who have studied a different riwayah and want that specific chain certified.
Ijazah in Hifz
Certifies complete, accurate memorization of the Quran, not recitation style alone.
How Certification Actually Happens
Evaluation
Your teacher honestly assesses your current recitation before anything is agreed.
A Personal Plan
Which sections need the most work, and roughly how long certification will realistically take.
Full Recitation
You recite the Quran in full to your teacher, with corrections until it meets the standard.
Verification
Once your teacher is satisfied, you are certified and formally join the chain of transmission.
Who This Course Is For
Advanced students who already recite fluently with strong Tajweed and want a certified authorization to recite, and later teach, the Quran themselves.
How It Is Taught
Live, one to one video sessions. You recite directly to your teacher, who listens closely and corrects anything that is not yet accurate enough.
Who Teaches It
A teacher who holds their own verified Ijazah with an authenticated chain, qualified to assess and certify recitation to this standard.

Learn moreFrequently Asked Questions
What is an Ijazah?
A formal certification that you have recited the Quran correctly to a qualified teacher. It authorizes you to recite it and, in turn, to teach and certify others.
What is the sanad, or chain of transmission?
The unbroken line of named teachers a recitation has passed through, each learning from the last and teaching the next, reaching back through history.
What level of recitation do I need before starting?
You need to read fluently with strong, consistent Tajweed. This course refines and certifies ability you already have. It does not build it from scratch.
How long does it take to earn an Ijazah?
Most students complete a recitation Ijazah in one to three years, depending on how consistently they practice and how solid their Tajweed is at the start.
Can I teach the Quran once I have an Ijazah?
Yes. That is the point of the certification. It formally authorizes you to pass on the recitation you have learned, continuing the chain.
